What is "Ying Yang"?
"Ying Yang" feng shui is a kind of muptical study and according to the ancient ancestors who pioneered the study of "ying yang feng shui", the theory follows "twenty eight chinese zodiac" of the sky, and the "seventy two longs (dragons)" of the earth line. Good luck & bad luck would be hidden in the study of "Gan Zhi". "Feng shui" evolves around theories that is hard for a lay person to understand it's working.
"Ying yang feng shui" includes:-
- monuments and burial place of ancestors
- the house that you live in
- business office
- the place and location of birth
"Feng shui" affects from a person character, to personality, to talent and also wealth.
In "feng shui", the location and surrounding must go hand in hand with the above said theory. Strict compliance with the theory of "feng shui" is important as many amateur "feng shui master" egnates "feng shui" to beauty and nice view, hence ignoring the theory part of "feng shui" and due to the lack in expertise, many are victimised by it.
Our country possesses excellant land scape and the building industry is also booming, if houses or burial places could be choosen according to the theory and rules of "feng shui", then it could well clear the "bad roots" of poverty and lack of talent in their decendants and generations below, and will also lead to the production of many more smart and useful people that could be beneficial to the society.
So how does "feng shui" affect burial place of our ancestors?
Geographical theory of burial place in "feng shui", places heavy emphasis in 'Longs" (dragon), mountain is "longs", which is the "Di chi" (breath of earth), therefore the dead would bear "sheng chi" (breath of life). This "breath or chi" can be brought and led by water, and ends with limited water and can be concentrated by element of wind. Therefore a good burial ground must both acquire the element of water, wind and "Longs" (dragon). Note that " dragon " consist of both real " dragon " and fake " dragon ". Those mountain which is thin but lively, i.e it twists & turns like a real dragon, is to be considered as true dragon. On the other hand, mountain that is huge and straight will be "fake dragon". Type of water, streams & river can also affect the luck of a burial plot, for example a slow & steady stream or river surrounding the burial plot brings ultimate good luck, and vice versa. However, the most significant element must be the "wind". It affects even burial ground with the best "longs" and "water" elements, rendering the plot to be a must to abandon. Amongst others, the "Au" and "Geng" wind does the most damage, ranging from causing terrible diseases to as bad as break-up in family & brings death to family members. Therefore the element of "wind" is vital & dangerous and it cannot be overlooked. Although the saying goes, "everyone will die one day, but as family member, to bury the dead ay the right place, could bring fortune to the family and generations below."
There are many factors deciding the right burial place, but the underlining principle is the "breath of life". Therefore, in order to prosper, the 5 main deciding factors, namely "long", "water", "wind", "location" and "soil" must all bear "breath of life" or "sheng chi". Emphasis must be equally placed on all factors, so that the family can "ride" on "sheng chi", and brings fortune and luck to generations below.
In order to ride the 'sheng chi", there are two ways to go about it. First, the location & geographical method, and secondly, the "compliance with theory" method. Both must given equal emphasis. The case has always been, whereby people will buy properous burial ground that belonged to another, noy knowing that by doing so could bring unpleasant disaster to the family's luck & fortune. This is normally due to ignorance of "feng shui" theory, not knowing that although the buyer got themselves a good burial place, the "luck & fortune" of that plot had been exhausted. Therefore, in searching for a good burial plot, one must look for a "fresh" plot, rather than buying other's burial plot blindly.
How does "feng shui" affect your living home?
Although theories are similar when applying to living home & burial place, but a living home depends more on these factors, which at the same time will absorb more power from these factors. That is why people prefers to build their house at the meeting point of mountain & water or rivers, according to the rule of "yin yang" & "5 elements". Normally if a house is built on a flat and low area, it will be best if it has element of water, and on the other hand, if house is built on a mountain or valley area, "wind" element is always of most importance. Note that all big cities in the world are situated at the meeting point of "rivers, mountain and wind". The main meeting point will normally be housing area, and subsidiary meeting points are normally grave yards. A well known chinese philosopher's was built on good meeting point, and therefore this philosopher was followed & dearly remembered for thousands of years.
"Feng shui" for home is commonly known as "Facial Fortune Telling for home", which means we have to take into account the surrounding, location, direction, shape and design of the house, with the help of "feng shui" to analyse the good & bad luck that house could bring to the owner. Another saying in "feng shui" goes to say that the best home would be "river flowing to the east of the house; a wide road running besides and to the west of the house; facing a spacious flat land at south; and backing a hill at north." However,a piece of land like the above said situation is hard to find in big cities. Therefore for houses without the above element "feng shui" will compliment the missing required factors to change things from bad to good, or missuse of it might work the other way round. This can be achieved by designing and building the house in a specific manner. Normally, fortune of a living home can be devided into 2 parts. First of all, the house itself, called the bone, or spine, the bigger the bone or spine is, the better peace and luck the house could bring. Secondly, the surrounding of the house, which could bring prosper to the owner. Therefore a combination of both could maximise the good that the house can bring. "Bone or spine" without surroundings, family would be small and lack decendants; surroundings with a firm "bone" will result in difficulty in keeping wealth.
The fortune and luck that is attached with the house can be first seen by its colour. Never mind if the roof of the house is old, as long as the colour remains striking, then the owner & his family will prosper. However, even the roof is brand new, but with a dull colour, the luck of the family will eventually go down hill. A house is like living object, it 'breathes'. Although it breathes in the forces of the surroundings, it is also important that it breathes or absorbs the forces that are coming through the main door of the house. By facing the main door at a good direction, it brings better luck and fortune to the family too. 'Force' commonly known in feng shui as 'Chi'. If the direction of the main door is facing 'sha chi' or 'damaging force', the consequences of it could be bad for family members. Whereas if the doors faces the 'good force' or 'sheng chi', then persons living in that house would benefit from it. Therefore it is important that doors and windows should avoid facing those directions whereby 'chi' is harmful, and welcome the 'sheng chi'.
Besides the above factors, shape and design of the house, length and space of the door, location and direction of the living room, corridors, kitchen, walls etc could play a major part in feng shui for living home.
